What do past winners have to say? 

Congratulations to Nehemiah Stewart, a senior studying math and chemistry, for winning a first place prize at the 2019 Carolina Challenge Pitch Party for his venture, Vector Rideshare. The ride-sharing app is built for college students and university staff to carpool on trips longer than 10 minutes but shorter than a plane ride. Drivers and riders must have a university email or ID; social media accounts are linked to ensure safety. Stewart came up with the idea after being stuck in his dorm one fall break because he did not have an affordable way to travel home to Washington, D.C.

“The Carolina Pitch Party introduced me to a diverse array of like-minded individuals, some of whom were peers, and others who are leaders in the field I sought to follow in,” said Stewart. “The fast-paced discussions allowed me to try out different pitches to see what stuck until eventually I found the elevator pitch that ultimately allowed my company product, Vector Rideshare, to win first prize in late stage, non-social ventures.” Learn more
